Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled)
Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip.

If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here.

Default new chip having issues

Hey guys my name is Caleb and just got my phoenix chip installed in my early 99 250 Super Duty 4x4 Crew Cab Auto. It has 60tow, 80dd, 100 perf, and hi idle. I like the power of the chip but the transmission shifting is terrible. the 80 setting either shifts hard when I am light on the throttle or seems to linger between shifts if I am WOT. dont know if this is something to do with the programming or not but I can go back to stock and the truck shifts perfectly every time. It also does the lingering on the 100 perf setting. Also the RPM's are up to 800-900 when idling with the chip on which i read somewhere might be normal for a chipped truck. Any ideas as to what the tranny problem is coming from. It is almost to aggravating to drive

You are going to probably have to get Bill to tweek the tranny functions. Due to a family emergency they are out of town right now. Also before you got the chip did you put a shift kit in. Or if you baught it used it may have had one installed. If you know someone that could data log the pressures and relay them to Bill that will help. Keep an eye out on the board here and they will post up when they are back and will get you fixed up.

i have the bully dog shift kit in my 2000, and with bills tunes the shifts are amazing, pulls right into gear no more drawn out shifts. so ya you probly need to have some tweeks, make sure ur pcm is clean and ur chip is secure, that can make a difference

i bet its not your tranny.... do you have a cali model truck?

mine did that on my old tunes and my tuner tweeked something to correct it but i dont know what.... when i switched to Bills tunes, again, it did the same thing.... Bill couldnt figure out what it was so i switched to a PMT2 pcm... should fix it...

your idle speed is set in the tune so not sure why you are getting a high idle...
the shifting is easy for Bill to tweak in the tune.... how many miles on the truck? tunes can magnify certain tranny problems. definitely go with a shift kit, I have the Transgo kit in mine... or you can get a custom valve body... BTS or John Woods I think it is are both good.. the pressures are helpful if you can get them...

Cody or Bill are the ones you can really advise you on tranny stuff

check with bill first... if he has your idle speed set to stock (or whatever you specified) and its still got the high idle, your problem is what i mentioned above... i know first hand....

On cold mornings mine will idle high for the first 2 or 3 minutes then go down to normal. I don't mind it...
I also have some harsh shift issues but I think it's from a used Accumulator Body I swapped in. I need to fix a modified part on my original Acc. Body and swap it back in.
