This effect was something I was a bit concerned about when people talked about removing the resonators from intakes. I thought it might induce standing waves in the intake that would hurt its efficiency. I think that is why "drone" is probably NOT a good thing too.

Same here, its just not easy to prove when people think that cutting it off will make the intake more streamline like the aftermarket CAIs.
