Longshot270, Did you oil the inside of the cone on the K&N filter? I don't have any instructions on how to oil the K&N filter.

I dont think I did because it absorbed from the outside. Here are the instructions.

Thanks Longshot!

Guess I just didn't put enough oil on because it didn't really absorb through that much. Put some more oil on and will let it sit till after lunch and then install it.

Just make sure you dont over oil the filter. That is the biggest danger of these kinds of filters.

Yea, that's why I was going lightly. I gently wiped it with a paper towl until it didn't leave any oil on the towl. Figured it was good to go after that and put it in this afternoon. Am looking at paper filters though. Don't think K&N makes paper ones for my truck.

No, if you go paper it is probably cheapest to go with the motorcraft.
