Default switching trucks

I found a smoking deal on a FU chip and I was wondering what all needs to be down to run it in my 97. The chip is comming out of a 02. Do I have to send it in to get redone or just run it how it is?

You will need to contact us with the previous owner's name and we will have to change the calibration set to match your truck's PCM family.

We will also need to register the PhoenixFlash software to your computer.

Ok I can spare $50 to get it redone, but then when I upgrade to stage 1s is there more money involved?
