"Supporting Mods" are usually simple things that ensure you are getting the most air in and out of the engine.

The 120 and 140 HP tunes are usually named what they are because they command more fuel (which typically only occurs at lower RPM than the <100 HP tunes). Actually getting an additional 120 or 140 HP is not really possible regardless of whether or not you have a 17 degree HPOP or AD injectors simply because of the air/fuel flow limitations of a stock 7.3L engine.

The main advantage to the newer PCM in your truck would have to do with the transmission shifting strategy. That's the reason most people swap PCMs in the E99 automatic trucks. The newer PCMs allow more preferred operational characteristics than the earlier PCMs do.
