I have a few issues regarding my new Phoenix.
I've noticed the shifts to be inconsistent in pressure/firmness. Sometimes they feel good, clean crisp up-shifts. Other times they are just mushy, and soft with very little "positive" feel. It's almost like I have to hit a "sweet-spot" with throttle position and load to have it shift decently. The tow tune seems OK. (though I haven't pulled heavy with it yet) The 80DD is hit-or-miss. The Perf. tune is really bad... very mushy. TC lock-up feels fine. Temps have been the same as they always have. With stock programming (read; NO Chip installed) they are consistent, and feel pretty decent. With my last tuner (different vendor) they were also crisp and firm. At this point, your guess is as good as mine since you're running standard calibrations. What this means (in a nutshell) is that you're running the exact same tuning that any of PHP's customers with a 49-state emissions 99.5-01 automatic are running (probably at least 1,000 others). If others were to have issues similar to yours, we'd have some basis to go off of with what needed to be changed in the standard calibrations. It's weird that you're having issues with our tuning but not stock or with tuning from another vendor, but my question is this: Do you have a way to read scan data (particularly the exhaust backpressure data)? The PCM calculates torque (and subsequently transmission pressures) based on this reading. If you have a sensor/wiring issue or a plugged feedback tube, the PCM will default to pre-mapped tables and will make the necessary adjustments based on stock power levels. On a 49-state truck, the check engine light will not turn on in most cases. |

Yes I do. I don't have AE, but my Aeroforce gives me some info. I checked my EBP against Baro with KOEO and they were a match at 14. Yesterday I experienced a different issue. I attempted to switch to the Whisper and nothing happened. No change. I switched back to DD, then to Whisper again, still nothing. Tried HI, nothing. Then again... everything worked as it should... |

I've spoken with Angela and at this point we're going with "maybe the PCM contacts aren't clean enough".
I'm returning the chip for a re-burn and I'll report back in a while.

Ok.
As for FTE...... I don't post there or read that stuff anymore (or on any other forums for that matter) because I can't stand reading all of the lies and all-out, shot-in-the-dark guesses that are so freely given out. People just get peeved when the facts don't agree with their opinions. |

Just be aware that KOEO readings that match mean very little if the backpressure tube is actually plugged. Over time, the pressure in the tube will likely even out....but......
Take it for a drive and see what it does while driving. It will probably increase (which would indicate a normal condition), but it's possible that it won't....and will stay near 14 or will show a VERY slow pressure rise. |
