Greetings,
I've had my Hydra Chip since 2017 and it's worked great with my stock 7.3 Powerstroke. However, I recently had to remove the engine to replace the oil pan (cracked from wearing against the bellhousing cover (manual trans)). While it was out, I decided to do some additional work.
Plus a bunch of little parts, gaskets, seals, general replacements. My use case is general everyday kind of work, hauling construction materials, heavy stuff, light stuff, and the occasional tow of a car trailer or an 8,000 pound radio comm shelter. With the KC Stage 1 Turbo and 160/0 injectors, I imagine the stock tune kit with the Hydra won't be quite right. The question is, will the Titan Unlock get me what I need, or will I need to seek out a custom tuner? I'm nearing completion of the re-install and will be hooking up batteries in a matter of days. Thank you, Asa Jay |

Before spending money on different tuning for your (what I assume from your list of parts) 1995-1997 7.3L, run the tuning you have and see how it goes. The tuning for stock AA injectors and tuning for larger singles with stock nozzles will start out identical and most higher-horsepower calibrations for stock AA injectors "call for" more than what the stock injectors will provide anyway.
Stock and lower HP calibrations will run identically to what you had before and the higher HP calibrations will run stronger. I don't see a charge air cooler ("intercooler") in your list; stock injectors with additional fuel can get you into the danger zone of exhaust gas temperature under certain conditions and more fuel will only make it worse. I have two 1995s that would push almost 1200 degrees on a long climb with AAs and mild tuning. After CAC installs (from 1999 donors), 1000 is all either will ever hit regardless of load, ambient temp, or RPM.

Thank you for that advise to try what I have, it may work. I'm still a day or two from completion and firing it up.
Further information if helpful. I purchased the Hydra Chip in 2017 and the tune package is VDAB0_02. It would be nice to see a complete listing of all the available tunes if it were available. That is without having to plug into a live system. I'm still putting the wiring back together in the front end after having re-installed the radiator core support. I printed the current tune list way back when I first programmed it. The list is: 01 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 65 HP - Daily Driver 02 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 80 HP - Daily Driver 03 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 65 HP - Performance 04 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 80 HP - Performance 05 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 80 HP - Towing 06 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 65 HP - Towing 07 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 40 HP - Towing 08 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 25 HP - Towing 09 - **BLANK** 10 - **BLANK** 11 - **BLANK** 12 - **BLANK** 13 - **BLANK** 14 - **BLANK** 15 - Server File: VDAB0_02: 0 HP - Whisper Mode My Box Code is S0D4 and it was updated in 2017 by Bill Cohron before sending back to me. Also thank you for the note about EGT. I had thought of putting in a gauge and I think you've convinced me I should. No, I do not have an Intercooler installed, that just seemed like one step too far. At least for now. ![]() Thank you, Asa Jay
