Metric function is ONLY for the 2004-2008. I do not have the capability to modify the older firmware so you are pretty much a current as you're going to get.
As for 89 vs. 91, the canned tuning is still pretty conservative so I wouldn't really worry about it. Get with me about the updates tomorrow and we'll get you back on track. Take care.
