Still cant figure it out.....
Some of you might remember me from a thread i started titled, SO far nothing but problems (http://dygytalworld.ehost-services13...read.php?t=587)
I listed the thread but I was having problems "custom tuning" my gryphon. Well I kind of just forgot about the problem as it wasn't too big of a deal but it hit me again this week when I went to have some fun. I changed my tune from the towing to the performance tune. Did a couple of 0-60's and then went to go back to my old tune. I brought the menu up like always and went through everything and hit load last settings (or whatever it says on the last line) and it went into a sputter. Not a no start but it wouldn't run right. It was VERY rough. So I retuned it back the 87 tow and it was fine. Advanced my timing to 91 octane on the 87 tow tune and it again went to sputtering. I know the fuel I am buying is good 91. I have search everywhere for non-ethanol fuel. I’m the only one to put fuel in my truck ever. So I know what I have in it. It just strikes me as odd that I can be running fine on a canned tow tune that is tweaked. Go to a performance tune for 15 min. and try to reload the same tune and it gives me a rough idle. If I didn't feed it gas it would die. Another thing is that it doesn't reset the AMPG. I hit enter twice and it just won’t. Is this something i missed that is different from the edge? I hope my tow tune to get here soon so I truly run on 91. As of right now i am tuned for 87 but running 91 I can’t get any alterations to any program to work.... I tried just to change the tire size and it went to a sputtering start...... That really confused me..... Any help.....

When you are finished after this (after any additional settings you make), you scroll to "Done" and hit <Enter> , then sit back and let your Gryphon program the PCM. Quote:

Hopefully, this will get things back the way they should be. Let me know what happens, OK? - Jack

Jack,
I have always turned everything off. I shut the doors, and program everything without even leaving the truck. I didn't change anything. I went straight down and hit the load previous settings. In the past i have tried just making simple changes. I would just load a tire change and it will give me wierd outcomes. I owuld leave all the shift points and timing untouched but yet it will always give me a rough idle. I have only done hte Previous options thing once. Every other time I try to do a custom tune. I have yet not been able to make any changes to a tune. Period. This is what i have tried in the past from day one with gryphon. Every tune. 1.) Loaded 91 performance.... Wouldn't run. Would start and then just die.... 2.) Loaded Tow tune with timing advanced 2.0. Ran but was rough. Had to get home so i tried a tune without changing things. 3.) Loaded stock tow tune. Worked great. Was better then changed Canned tune on edge. I then ran this for about a week. 4.) Tried tow tune with just the tire change. Read in manual to cross referance size. I put it in. Hit done. Rough idle. 5.) Went back to tow tune. Ran 87 tow tune on 91 gas for 2 months. Decided to have some fun and try the 91 tune again. Loaded and started. Ran great. Did my runs. Went back to tow tune. 6.) Loaded tow tune. ONLY change was advancing the timing +2.0 for 91 octane fuel. Rough idle. Went back to canned 87 tow tune. Thats where i am now. Sorry if it is so long. But that is a step by step of the last 2.5 months since i have had my gryphon. I had my edge for 3 years and never once had a problem programming it. The steps are the same for the gryphon, so i would assume we could rule that out. I will try to change the click rate and see if that helps. I hope it does. Thanks Nate |

Thank you Nate - I finally understand, I think! :o Sorry it took me so long.
As long as you do not try to apply any Custom Options, things are fine - does that about sum it up? Of course this is way above my limited knowledge of the Gryphon and I suspect there COULD be a problem in the firmware of the unit. I'm sure Bill can correct this, once he finds the time to get back to you. We've alerted him through the moderator's network about this so it hopefully won't get lost in the "shuffle". As you know, Bill and Corey are possibly out of touch since they're on a live tuning trip, so it may take a couple of days for them to get back to you. Hang in there! - Jack |

Anyways. Like i said i should be getting my custom tow tune from them soon.... So its not to important of a problem but none the less it still isn't great. There are times i really need to change some of the options. Thanks Jack for you help once again.
