Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled)
Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip.

If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here.

Default I'm thinking of trying PHP.

My truck and mods are in my sig. I have several more mods in mind and a couple on the shelf. My question is, If I get a phoenix and like the tuning, can I upgrade it later to the FU or FU2?
Thanks

Absolutely!

I don't think you'll have an issue with liking the tuning.

I see you have a PMT2 PCM. That makes things a lot better from the start.

Thanks Cody. The PMT2 is a huge upgrade over the XLE4 in itself.

Well.....

PMT2 can become PMT1 in about 3 seconds once the J3 contacts are cleaned.

What calibrations would y'all recommend? My fuel system, hpo system, turbo, and injectors are stock. I have a 17* hpop on the shelf to send in for a core for either an adrenalin or T1.(haven't made up my mind yet) I'm also thinking about modding my IDM. I know that I want stock, 25hp tow, 65hp tow and I would like to fill all 6 positions. What would you recommend for the other 3 positions on an early bird
Thanks

Do whatever makes you happy, Huck. In all honesty, I will venture a guess that you will spend a lot of your non-towing time in an 80 or 100 HP setting. How often do you tow and how much in-town driving do you do? A lot of in town driving may warrant the usage of the economy tune since most of the tuning is centered around 1600-1800 RPM. Are you a McDonalds drive-through junkie? Some trucks like the Whisper mode tune, others don't. However, it's no big deal to trade it back in....especially if you get the downloadable package later.

PMT1 is even better than PMT2.

I have a early 1999 XLE4 with a Phonix chip in it. I am very happy with the performance, shifting ect especialy when towing. How is the PMT1/PMT2 better. More power? Better shifting? Fuel Mileage increase?

The PMT boxes (or DPC-422 family in general) are better because of the more desirable torque converter clutch apply strategy than what your XLE4 has. In all actuality, the PMT1 is regarded by many as the best base program Ford ever put in a 7.3L Powerstroke......it was also probably the shortest-lived.

More power? Slightly........but only because the DPC-422 PCMs were designed for 140cc AD injectors and the stock programming reflects this. Fuel mileage may also go up because of the better resolution in some of the tuning tables (slightly more "fine" adjustment).

It requires nothing more than finding a PCM out of a 49-state 99.5-01 automatic truck that says "DPC-422" on it where your current one says "DPC-402".....oh, and programming your chip with PMT1 programs.

I do tow often, anywhere from 9,000 - 16,000. When I'm not towing I'm in 80. I don't have any race files on my current chip. Although, I would like to have some.
