Needing a custom Tuner, but have a few questions.
I have an 04 F-150 5.4 and am needing a tuner with custom tunes for O2 and air/fuel issues. I would like to know which tuner would be the best for my set-up. I am leaning towards the Gryphon, but still unsure.
Upgrades: Cold air intake throttle body spacer long tube headers (No Cats) x-pipe into dual Flowmaster super 44's I also currently have a hypertech (Waste of money) tune installed on my computer and my tuner was stolen with my factory settings stored in it. Will this be an issue? Or can they be wiped out with install of new tuner? |

Will you definitely need custom tunes with the CAI. As for which tuner I would say it is up to your preference,...Bill will be able to change the air/fuel on either one (gryphon /sct). But as far as the O2 sensors you would have to talk to Bill about that and see if he can turn the light off or bypass.... I am pretty sure you are gonna have to have a stock tune before you can put another tuner on the truck. I am not sure, but I would think PHP could fix you up with this. |

I'm not sure about the O2 sensors because those are used by the computer to adjust the A/F ratio but he probably can adjust for it. Bill can also write you a new stock tune for about $75. Then you'll be good to go for your customs.

first off, order the gryphon ASAP as your probably runing dangerously lean (you probably already knew that), second you must get a factory reflash from the dealer to a stock tune. when you do this, drive like a grandma so you don't cause damage from lean running. when you get the gryphon you can use the canned tow tune (runs richer) just be careful because you may still be a little lean with the headers and duals until you get the custom tunes.
granted, i can't make you drive any certain way, but i always aire on the side of caution
