No, it's the right thing to do. I haven't found any problems, but I have rewritten the stock and cold start calibrations to make sure there are no binary problems with them.

Absolutely no smoke at all immediately after cold start up (there's always that first puff, but then that's it) and that is with cold glow plugs. Also there is almost no discernable difference the way the engine sounds. Diesel sound doesn't change but maybe 1%.
