Default Customizing custom tunes

Has anyone out there customized a tune? I have one set at tranny only and want to play with it but dont even know where to start. I would like to play without hurting anything.

I doubt you'll hurt anything as long as you don't do something foolish like setting your MAX rpm at 7000 and then revving the engine to that speed.

Just go ahead and reselect Power programming and Level 1, and then, when you are given the option of "customizing settings", say "yes". Now, you can play with some of the parameters like shift points, shift firmness, WOT fuel, etc. You can even play with timing if you're VERY daring. Just try small changes at first, especially the timing - I'd be very careful trying to increase it much at all. But, you can easily change your max rpm to something reasonable like 5400, your max speed to, say 110, part throttle shift points by a few mph and so on.

Save your work and let the programmer reprogram the PCM. Drive the truck and see what you think. If you want to change things again, when you get back into the custom settings menu, first "Reload Previous Settings" so you start with what you had set before and then change what you didn't like. Test it again.

I think you'll do more damage to your engine and transmission with your gas pedal foot than anything you'll do with the programmer.
