Default Getting Started Asking Questions

I have a 99 F250 Crew 4wd 7.3 in good shape, 145,000 and was thinking of trying to customize a little, like exhaust, cold air intake, programmer of some sort, to increase power, and improve mpg. What is the best modifications for the money? What kind of success have you guys had?

Best modifications for the money?

Straight through muffler on stock exhaust and chip with 2-3 calibrations.

Increased power and less frustrating to drive while maintaining the same or in some cases slightly better fuel economy.

Yeah I knew that was coming, problem is finding a decently priced kit since they seem to be harder to come by.

Just straight pipe it, or get a straight thru muffler welded in where the stock one was, btw this is the wrong forum it is the IDI section..

Anyway along with that, do the DIY intake(piece of pvc, a hose clamp, and a 6637 filter)

Gauges are good, NEEDED when running tunes, trans, boost and pyro are the most common and obviously useful..

And of course some good PHP tunes will get you started.

Theres many other mods you can do, the hutch/harpoon mod, the zoodad mod, the HPx mod, etc, etc, etc.
