Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled)
Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip.

If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here.

Default Do I need to take out my PCM?

Hey guys and gals , first post here.
DoI need to take out my PCM for the install of the Phoenix chip?

I'm trying to read the numbers on it and I don't know if the numbers are underneath the harness, so I should take off the 10 mm bolt and take the harness off the PCM to see the sticker to read the PCM code or not.

If I need the PCM out for the chip install then I'll just pull the whole thing out , read the numbers and order my Phoenix chip.

My dealer has a sticker in the engine bay that reads

Installed new PCM. numbers are XV 22 12A 650RD

Is this enough info to order a Phoenix chip?

Thanks

Patrick.

Hey, I just looked up my code. just pulled the inner fender well liner off the front driver side and I could see it right away. You don't even need to pull the whole thing just the back half. Just what i did and it took like ten min. The code should read somethin like xle4 or something similar with three letters and one number as stated on phps site. Good luck

If I need to take out mt PCM to properly install the Phoenix chip please let me know. If I do and that's the best way to clean the contacts and all, I'll just pull the PCM now so I can read the code easy and order the chip.

If I do not need to pull the PCM for the chip install, I'll just try an read the code with a mirror .

Thanks

If you don't remove the PCM to clean the contacts, please be kind and don't blame us when the chip doesn't seem to do anything after install......

Copy all. And will do.

I bought a lighted mirror to see the code and before I order I want to run it by you to see if you approve of the code.

MRT3 is what I read upside down and backwards.

The dealer also put a sticker on the engine cowl in 2002 the replaced the PCM for some reason. The sticker says "Replaced PCM" then it says XV22 12A650-RD.

I have a 1999.5 ( 03/99) automatic 7.3 L with Tymar intake , 4 inch turbo back exhaust, fuel crossover, and stock everything else. It's got 90K miles on it.

I have the vin also if that will help.

Just verify for me since the replacement sticker makes me wonder.

Once I get your go ahead I will order the Phoenix chip.

Thanks very much.

Nice hijack to the thread henerysomar....

Cleatus, I was wondering if you have read my post above and could give me the go ahead on ordering a chip, if you think the PCM nums make sense.

Thanks

I would just pull the pcm. Should only take 5-10 minutes. Here is a video of dp tuner install. Just ignore the dp tuner part but it's the same. Diesel Movies - I install a DPTuner F5 chip in my buddies truck. Positions were Stock hi idle 60tow 80econo 120 race 140smoke. Also make sure to check out the sticky on cleaning the pcm connector.

Yes, MRT3 is valid.

You'll get PMT1 programming.
