van turbo??
ok so i found a sweet deal on a van turbo the guy says its a sweet upgrade for the f series trucks but im all new to this and dont know anything this is what it comes with
"This is a Fully Rebuilt/Remanufactured Performance Turbocharger for the Late 99-03 Powerstroke 7.3L Engine. 1. All new bearings and seals 2. Banks Compressor wheel 3. 1.15 A/R NON-Wastegated 3-bolt Van Exhaust housing 4. Van turbine wheel (Larger than F-Series turbine wheel) 5. Fully Ballanced by Ron's Turbo Service 6. Modified 3-bolt adaptor flange (Flange will ONLY be included if purchasing turbo for an F-series truck)" he also states this im just wondering if this is true and if its really an upgrade "Turbo can be used as a GREAT Performance turbo for a Late 99-03 F-250/350/450/550 with the 7.3L engine. (Has larger turbine housing that is non-wastegated for more boost, Banks Compressor wheel) ( If used on an F-series truck) Turbo is recomended for more modified trucks ( Chip, Intake, Larger Exhaust, ect)" any info would be great thanks

The "van turbo" is a great upgrade for higher-HP stock injector'd (like that word?) trucks. The less-restrictive turbine housing frees up a few HP on the top of the rev-range due to less restriction, pretty well eliminates surge because of the lower compressor speeds at 1800-2200 RPM, and keeps EGTs manageable.
This is a great upgrade for not a lot of money because of all of the advantages. The only real disadvantage is a somewhat perceptible increase in low boost spool up time.
