I want to chip my truck, but....
So I have a 2000 7.3l crew cab 4x4 with 133,000 miles. When I bought the truck there was a slight issue with the tranny when shifting from 1-2. It really punches itself into gear sometimes, but not always. It seems to do it more often when the truck is going downhill or fairly level plane. I've never had it happen when going uphill which is weird to me. It had an edge evo installed when I bought it and made the shifting issue 10x worse. I want to chip my truck for some extra performance, but i'm worried I'm just going to have the same shifting issue as before. Any suggestions/thoughts? Thanks!

I know that the Evolution is going to make a "shift-kitted" truck shift like a mad chief and harder than the dickens. If there has been transmission work done previously, the chances are good that the transmission has been mechanically altered to firm up the shifts. This can be taken care of with the tuning, mostly by decreasing shift pressures in the low-load ranges. Hope this helps.

I don't think so...I ripped the previous owner a new one for selling me a truck with a crappy transmission and he didn't say a word about installing anything like a shift enhancer in it. He was the type of guy that wanted to floor it out of every stop light, so I'm assuming he did some sort of minor damange to it. So you think by chipping it, it will help out my problem by altering the shift points? Should I buy a shift enhancing kit?

I'm not nearly the expert Cody is, but I can tell you that if it were me I would either go ahead and replace/rebuild the tranny if you are wanting a chip that badly.
In my opinion, adding a chip to a transmission that is already having problems is a recipe for being stranded. Now, if you want to chip it and run it as long as you can until the tranny finally gives out, that's a different story. But if you're trying to make this transmission last as long as you can I would stay away from any power adders.
