Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled)
Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip.

If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here.

Default Got my chip installed. Got some questions and issues

1- Set my evo to stock for a day then installed my chip and stock SUCKS! Ok not really a problem more like a statement!
2 - What is up with the fuel saver program? It shifts WAY WAY early and boggs the motor way down. Makes the truck feel pretty gutless. I don’t like it.
3 - My 80 program is nice! BUT the 3-4 shift is WAY WAY WAY WAY (WAYWAY) too hard! If you are just hardly moving its ok but when you hit the pedal to get on the freeway when it shifts into 4 it feels like the truck just dropped the tranny on the ground and someone hit you. My mom in the back seat asked if I just broke something and needed to call AAA. If it is suppose to shift that hard, I need a different program in that hole.
4 - 120 is NICE!!! VERY NICE!!! Very peppy, no smoke till you get deep into the pedal and the shifts are very smooth. Big difference over the 100 program on my evo2
5 – Did not try the 50 tow yet. If my bro was not getting married next weekend I would go camping and give it a try.

I think I will ditch the fuel saver program and get something that is fast like the 120, smokes like a fright train, and has that BBC with a big cam idle is that an option Bill?

I also need that 3-4 shift fixed on the 80 program. I can not use it with the way it shifts…

A couple things:
  1. Stock sucks. And this surprises you how? We should make a bumper sticker that says that.
  2. The economy program is supposed to shift early. Define "WAY WAY" and we can make some tweaks. Or if you like, ditch it and we'll give you something else. We can do something smokin' & strokin' if that's what you'd like.
  3. Not sure what the dealio is on the shifting for the 80 HP program , but I doubt that it would be a problem to fix. We designed the shifts for only "WAY" firm. 4 "WAY" (plus a "WAYWAY") are completely unacceptable.
  4. Glad the 120 is working like it's supposed to.
Just let me know what you'd like and we'll get you fixed up.

Take care.

Bill - When you are done with your class give me a call and we will talk about it.

I tried the 80 again and it really shifted hard. This time my girl was in the truck with me thought I broke something. I guess make the 80 shift like the 120 program I have?

we were orginally talking about a more aggressive tow program but I am not sure if I want a show off program or a more powerful tow program... hmmmm. I guess I gotta decide now!

So finally tried out my tow program and I am not as happy as I was hopping.

The 2-3 shift is very early and when it shifts the truck boggs way down and bucks for about 1 to 2 seconds. Its REALLY bad when you are trying to get on the freeway with the pedal down far and it does this...

EGTs were good and did not get over 1100 even with a 20 mph head wind! It does feel like it should have a little more power to it though.

I want to send this thing back and get a few things tweaked. I see you guys are closed this week coming up and Bill never called me last week after the class. I have a trip coming up in 2 weeks and want my chip back for that.

not good....

I want to ditch my econ fuel sipper program.
so I would like it to go like this
1 - high idle (no change)
2 - Stock (no change)
3 - 80 hp (change the shift)
4 - 120hp (no change)
5 - 50 tow (change the shift)
6 - more powerful tow maybe 70 ish? a little more beef then the tow I have now.

Also want to discuss the actual shift points and TC lockup spots on the tow programs.

Do you have a tach? what rpm range is it shifting at? what is the RPM before and after the shifts do you have any mods to the tranny such as a valve body or shift kit?

I was not paying enough attention to it.

I have no valve body mods.

I figured Bill would look at the tuning and see the problem. Logic tells me that if my tranny was not normal all my tunes would shift funny. stock and the 120 shift good (and so does my evo2). so if it was my tranny they would shift funny. I can not believe he intends for the tranny to shift like this. It has to be a mistake in the tunning

Ok I was just curious, Agree sounds like a an issue with the tunes then. As I just ordered the Minotaur pkg, I figure I can learn from issues others have, hopefully Bill will share what he changes to soften up the shifts so we can all learn something

I would think the higher HP tunes would actually want to shift softer or slightly longer because if you shifted as hard as a lower HP tune you would more likely end up breaking things.. As for the tow tune I would guess that you want a hard fast lockup to prevent slippage, loss of momentum and heat buildup. Is my logic correct there Bill?

Would "tired springs" in the valve body result in firmer shifts with the same programming of 2 different transmissions and can the springs get tired with use or wear of the valve body cause these symptoms?
