Default Code Reader

I was curious if it was possible to use the gryphon as a code reader in another ford obd2. A friend of mine claims he was able to do this with an Edge unit from his 02 F150 on a 99 Mustang. I just wanted to know if he was giving me a load of bull. I have a 97 Thunderbird with the CE light on and before springing for a reader it would interesting to know if I could just use the gryphon.

I suspect not, especially if the Gryphon has custom tunes.

But, I can't see the harm in trying. Take the Gryphon off your truck AFTER returning your truck to stock and plug it in to the T-bird with the ignition turned ON (engine off). If the unit boots, I'd say you have a fair chance of retrieving the codes.
