Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled)
Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip.

If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here.

Default Phoenix Chip Review

Here is my experience with the ordering process, installation, and performance. The truck is a 2001 F250, Crew Cab, 4wd, auto, 4" lift with 35" tires.

I obtained the information needed and completed the online order packet. Once I completed the "packet" it said processing would be a few days, and it was correct. Within a few days my card was charged and I got an invoice via email. The invoice had a estimated ship date of about a week out, and that was also correct as I got a delivery confirmation email on the estimated ship date stating it shipped. A few days later I got the chip in the mail.

I read the instructions thoroughly and opened up the PCM and used a toothpick to first break up the silicone and then used a small brass brush I had, and also hit the contacts lightly with a few strokes of the scotch pad provided and I also used some nail polisher remover. I assembled the case then put the chip in with the switch cord and used a piece of Gorilla tape to secure the chip. Note: I did cut a hole for the cord in the black plastic case with a drill bit.

I'm the type of person that cringes at the idea of drilling a hole into my dashboard or anywhere that I will see. I told myself that until I run the chip for a bit I'm not going to permanently install the dial switch. For the time being I just zip-tied the switch to the bracket for my brake controller.

With that being said The truck fired right up and I switch through all the tunes to find out which end of the dial was #1 and which was #6.

I got the following programs:
1. Stock
2. 1100 High Idle
3. 40 Tow
4. 65 Performance
5. 80 DD
6. 100 Performance

The truck ran good in the stock program and the transmission shifted great. The transmission shifts were crisp, quick, and smooth. The high idle worked well, not much more to say. The 40 Tow held each gear longer and ran well, I didn't tow anything in this setting yet. The 65 Performance setting was great, had nice power and trans shifted great and was smooth. The 80 DD setting seems to be the tune I will used the most. I used this for everything from daily driving to pulling my 3500LB boat. The truck has more then enough power in this setting for me and the trans shifts 100 times better then stock. The way the trans downshifts when you need the extra power is amazing and crisp. Even pulling my boat at 70MPH on the interstate I could climb any hill that I came across without dropping any speed and EGT's were lower then stock. I didn't get a chance to run the 100 Performance setting for more then a few miles, but it did great.

Overall the chip woke my truck up and it's a whole different truck to drive. The effect it has on the 4r100 is simply amazing. I haven't had the chance to calculate a solid MPG number yet but will soon. I'm a conservative driver and this chip did well more then what I thought. The power is very smooth. I found the service from PHP to be great and the price can't be beat for what you get.
