Phoenix Switch-On-The-Fly Chip (DISCOUNTINUED) (Disabled) Power Hungry no longer sells the Phoenix/TS chip, but if you need custom tuning we can recommend a few really good tuners that will be able to still provide tuning and support for your chip. If you have any other questions or comments about the Phoenix/TS chip, please post it here. |

I would have replied earlier but been busy and tired.
This is what I recommend and have per Bill. Stock High idle (I use it periodically and my pref) 40 tow for heavy tow 80dd can use for light to moderate towing 100perf has differ shift points 120/140 race. The thing about Bill's standard tunes is that the pedal is like stock or 2barrel carb but if you get into it, it's like a 4barrel and really wakes it up or gives you the power you need. I imagine diff between 2 close tunes is the power will come on stronger with higher HP compared to lesser HP tune. 15hp is nothing you will probably feel. Since you are not out for much maybe you should go with something like this. Keep in mind you do not have to do all 6 tunes either. Stock 40 tow 65 or 80dd 80 or 100 performance. I find that dd is good for in town and perf is better for hwy. I do not notice any difference in mpg between 80dd and 100perf. Race tunes are for fun. Hope this helps without confusing you any.

Can't edit, so....
Difference in shifting from my experience: Tow tunes have a higher shift point between all gears. I think it's 5mph higher than stock. DD I think has stock shift points Performance is same as stock but it shift into of later, closer to 42.5/45. The above mentioned is with easy driving. If your on it more, then the shifts vary depending on how hard your into it. Dd/perf will shift later if your really getting into it. If I recall, dd/perf/race all feel pretty much the same power wise when driving miss daisy. It's when you get into it more or get on it when you feel the difference in power. Hope this makes sense.

Thanks for the input that's exactly what I was looking for. I called php a few times the other day and didn't get through. I understand how busy they are so I figured the forum would be best for me.
Soon as I get some more free time I'm going to put my order in. Thanks again. |

With the help of the input I have come up with the following:
1. Stock 2. High Idle (1100rpm) 3. 40 Tow 4. 80 DD 5. 100 Perf 6. 100 Race I'm going to sit on this until tomorrow, then order. From what I have read I could always send the chip back for shipping cost and get other tunes put on it? |

Yes you can always send it back in to have tunes changed. However it will cost $25 per changed tune.
If you think you might want to play with different tunes I would suggest getting the FU chip. The fu is the same physical chip but you have access to all of the tunes for your truck. You burn what you want, when you want. Later down the rd you can get custom tunes if you ever decide to upgrade injectors, etc. With the fu, the additional cost is just the cost for the burner/software. Just something to think about. I have the fu, no downtime or need to be without tunes. You can then play with the different tunes and decide for yourself what you want. This way there are no mistakes on choosing tunes.

Put the 120 Race instead of 100 Race, probably not much diff w/stock injectors but might as well get all you can get...haha

My only reservation is if I should put a 65hp tune in the mix somewhere to have a variety. The truck has 108k miles on it and I do tend to baby it, the 120 race may break that streak.

That's really up to you.
Maybe do 65dd then 80 or 100 performance, but do not do any tune 15hp apart in the same class(dd,perf, race, etc). You can also try to get a hold of Bill on Tuesday before you make your order. He would be the best to explain differences and recommendations.

I agree with CJ, combine the no start and the high idle. It's a great two-fer.

I ended up ordering Sunday night, I went with:
1.Stock 2.1100 High Idle 3.40 Tow 4.65 Performance 5.80 DD 6.100 Performance I think this will suit me well for what I use the truck for. I will do a full review after I get the chip in and some miles on it. Thanks for all the suggestions. |
